Pre-Use Inspection

A thorough pre-use inspection is mandatory before operating any telehandler. This inspection ensures the machine is safe and fit for purpose.

The inspection should be documented and any defects reported immediately to your supervisor. Never operate a machine with known safety defects.

Inspection Checklist

Walk-Around Checks

• Check for visible damage, leaks, and loose components
• Inspect tyres for damage, wear, and correct pressure
• Check hydraulic hoses and connections for leaks
• Verify the load chart is visible and legible
• Check mirrors, windows, and visibility aids

Operator Cab Checks

• Test all controls and warning devices
• Check lights and indicators are functioning
• Verify horn and reversing alarm work
• Test footbrake and parking brake
• Check seatbelt condition and operation

Functional Checks

• Test boom extension and retraction
• Check all hydraulic functions smoothly
• Test steering in both directions
• Verify brakes hold the machine on a slope
