Primary Components
1. Crawler Undercarriage
- Tracks – Provide ground contact and distribute machine weight
- Track Frames – Support the track assemblies
- Sprockets & Idlers – Drive and guide the tracks
- Rollers – Support the track and reduce friction
2. Side Boom Assembly
- Boom – The main lifting arm extending from the side of the machine
- Boom Hoist Cylinder – Raises and lowers the boom
- Boom Point Sheave – Guides the wire rope at the boom tip
- Hook Block – Attaches to the load via slings or lifting gear
3. Counterweight System
- Counterweight – Mounted on the opposite side to balance the load
- Weight Position – May be adjustable on some models
- Purpose – Prevents tip-over during lifting operations
4. Wire Rope System
- Main Hoist Rope – Raises and lowers the load
- Boom Hoist Rope – Controls boom angle (if rope-operated)
- Winch Drum – Stores and pays out the wire rope
Operator Controls
- Boom Raise/Lower – Controls the boom angle
- Hoist Up/Down – Raises and lowers the load
- Track Controls – Left and right track for travel and steering
- Engine Throttle – Controls engine speed
- Emergency Stop – Immediately stops all functions
Safety Devices
- Load Moment Indicator (LMI) – Warns of overload conditions
- Boom Angle Indicator – Shows current boom angle
- Anti-Two Block Device – Prevents hook block from contacting boom tip
- Backup Alarm – Sounds when machine reverses
- Swing Lock – Secures boom during transport
✅ Key Points to Remember
- Know the location and function of all controls before operating
- Safety devices must never be bypassed or disabled
- All components must be inspected before each shift
